Ashton Weigel is a drummer, composer, and educator from Henderson, Nevada. From a young age, he had a special connection with music. His formal musical studies began in middle school where his band director, Jeffrey Williams, helped him discover his passion for playing music. His studies continued at Foothill High School, where he participated in the Marching Band, Indoor Drumline, Jazz Band, and Wind Symphony, under the direction of Travis Pardee, Adam Steff, Dr. Lindsay Whelan, and Dr. Dean Snavely. 

Ashton attended the University of North Texas, where he studied under renowned drummers, Quincy Davis and José Aponte. He received additional mentorship from Tito Charneco, Fredrick Sanders, and Rosana Eckert. He was a member of the UNT Latin Jazz Lab Band for five semesters, and participated in several other of the university's vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles. His time at the University of North Texas allowed him the opportunity to perform with Arturo O'Farrill, David Sanchez, Juan Alamo, and Michael League. During his collegiate years, Ashton was an active musician in the Dallas-Forth Worth music scene, playing everything from pop, rock, country, to straight-ahead jazz, Cuban, and Brazilian music, both as a sideman and a bandleader. 

Ashton continues to play, write, and teach in the Las Vegas area.
